Coach Miranda

Hi there! My name is Miranda Hoidal I was raised in the Pacific Northwest and currently reside in a cute little farmhouse just outside of Sedro-Woolley, WA. This place has a lot of grey, wet days but it’s also one of the most beautiful spots to live. So when the weather is decent, I love to hike, fish, camp and just be outside as much as possible.

Growing up, I was always active and I started playing sports at age 3. I love the competitive nature of team activities and thrived in an environment that challenged me athletically. This passion of mine developed and I was fortunate enough to continue my soccer career as a goalkeeper for Division II Western Washington University. As a competitive athlete, I naturally developed curiosity around exercise physiology and graduated from WWU in 2016 with a BS in Kinesiology.

I married my husband, Jake, shortly after graduation. I spent most of my life with a coach telling me how to exercise. I had no choice but to be active, which obviously changed drastically when my soccer career was over.

Here starts the slow and steady weight gain. I noticed my clothes fitting differently and my cheeks filling out in photos, but I honestly didn’t realize I had gained significant weight until I stepped on a scale at my doc appointment and surprised myself at my heaviest. I felt it was time to make a change.

Throughout college, I always went on “diets.” My teammates and I would “eat clean,” during the week, only to sabotage it with binge drinking and pizza on the weekends.

Don’t get me wrong – college was awesome, but I never learned that magic thing we call harmony. I was just active enough to not see dramatic consequences.

So here begins my own health and fitness journey….

College taught me the basics. I had a good understanding of nutrition, and I knew how to properly program my own strength training. But honestly, what helped the most, was when I started seeing fitness gurus on social media who preached sustainability.

So, I built my habits brick by brick and started making better decisions...

  • Adding more protein, fruits and veggies to my diet, less processed foods and really starting to get a feel for my hunger levels.

  • I weighed in daily and was able to associate those hunger levels with my steady progress.

  • I enjoyed nights out and one “bad” meal never led to another.

As far as exercise goes, I started off with whatever I knew I would do. I had been so used to extremes! Sprinting til I wanted to barf, 2 hour soccer practices every day, etc... That just wasn’t realistic for me anymore, so I committed to walking daily and 3-4 strength training sessions a week.

A year later I was 37 lbs lighter, and have been maintaining every since I’ve found sustainable habits for my own lifestyle. I’ve gone through the process myself and I have the education to back up my experiences.

As a coach, you’ll find that I’m always positive. I’ll never beat you down or be upset about what you eat or what workouts you miss...

I will, however, point out the facts.

I'll tell you WHY you’re not making progress without sugarcoating it.

I’ll also reiterate what you’re doing well and how to continue using your strengths.

I'll meet you where you're at, because that’s exactly what I had to do for myself in order to be successful.

I have helped a lot of people lose weight, but my biggest desire is to help clients find their confidence in strength training and building a healthier relationship with food.

So many people come in having tried every diet under the sun, paired with endless amounts of treadmill sessions. Some of my most fulfilling transformations are the ones that take 6 months or a year to complete and there is only a 10 lb difference between photos.

Sometimes, those are the most challenging.

Focusing on strength training and finding the best way for YOU to stay in a consistent calorie deficit will not only lead to your “dream body,” but will give you the confidence you never knew you had.

There is a much less miserable, and much more fulfilling way to reach your goals...

If you can trust me and trust the process, you'll find what works for you.
